Sacco’s Country Open Mic ’88

In the 1980’s Sacco’s in Watertown, MA had a country music open mic, where I’d go in early to get dinner and listen to local singer-songwriters and try out my own stuff. This clip is from 1988…
I have a couple other tapes somewhere – recorded on an Akai
portable tape deck. Sometimes I did the soundboard there (Where I met Paul Terazzo/Kenny Selzer/Brother Cleve – and the standard folks Ed Kunkle, Bucky Bear, the guy
who played pedal steel on a keyboard, Dave Sammarco, Karen Silver…so many others I have forgotten – I even made demo tapes for Mark Shapiro)
This was before the Harvard Square – Black Rose open mics (famous for bumping me to an 11:15 slot) which turned into the Kendall Cafe Open Mic…

Just a couple songs here (not my set which i have)
Up against the wall – Uncle Kunkle and Robert Wheeler playing Ukulele Lady, I think…

For more of this stuff (I’m not in here either- shot slightly before I started – many names are familiar) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFV3QP-Fwlk&list=PLCAD26AFBC62E7C06

I’m trying to monetize on Soundcloud

I’m not sure what that even means! I’ve been giving away music and sending it to Soundcloud, Reverbnation and Tumblr for years. I had reached some limits so in order to keep using these services I had to pay them something and in there is monetization (well, with soundcloud at least, reverbnation is a big fat question mark) – anyhow some playlists I’ve created so smaller chunks of some stuff reather than Albums (albums may be acquired at bandcamp and/or noisetrade) https://soundcloud.com/theintensions

Make the Time

The last few years with contagious tears oh man how that just sucked
some of us masked some of us vaxxed oh yeah we’re all doin’ fine’, fine
so exasperating to continue navigating past -all the variants
you know we’re not done yet, time to make the time, time to take the time
time to make the time ,to take the time

The whole world stopped everything dropped what it was doing, so confusing ,so confusing
while frustrating us, isolating us we’re trying not to die, or die trying
all the innocents who never got the chance to make it
you know we’re not done yet, time to make the time, time to take the time
time to make the time,to take the time

Hello in there, am I seeing that angel from Montgomery
a souvenir from all the years we won and lost
Smile an illegal smile , helps me through the drudgery
how people say some things i c’never get across

in dark desperation, you can find inspiration in a song
if you ask me how much longer this will last oh man, too long
Remember those we lost- the ultimate cost of a pandemic
you know we’re not done yet, time to make the time, time to take the time
time to make the time, to take the time

Hello in there, a souvenir from all the tears we lost
Smile that illegal smile, share it in kind
how people say some things i c’never get across
Hey John I remember everything and you’re still on my mind.
you know we’re not done yet, time to make the time, time to take the time
time to make the time, -Take the time

Today and Today and Today
Stands in its present place all day: today
Starts with the first consonant of a waking grunt
Oh ! Recall our Yesterdays, a feinted thought
To pave the next event. Shake Shake Magic Eightball!
Age is but an accumulation, a greying cloud,
That looms and billows over brighter skies
then shadows pass, evincing rain. It is a life
Blown by wind, full of love and friends
Amplifying Everything,

Horror Haikus III

Horror Haiku III

Stormy night and dark
Lightning flashes shadows crawl
Across a curtain

Drawn back to reveal
Endless rain, windswept swirling
Pitch black until – See!

Cursing thunder, again,
As a child I feared monsters
Riding thunderstorms

Illumination
which speedy bolts deliver
Touch ground from heaven

Swaying trees reach out
Then retreat but grasp nothing
Shadows intertwine

more thunderous peals
What is that? How can this be?
Another bright strike-

Everything sharp
In an instant, sharp as day
despite rain, something

Certain I see this
Certain of the shape, I know
Familiar – yes

More than just something
The chill that walked up my spine
Out my lips, Alma !

There she was, her eyes
Her shape, I would know it blind
Vivid in my mind

Alma, beloved, yes
Many, too many years pass
Without my Alma

One day, after school
We exchanged rings, together,
Our love forever

Another day comes
Like a sudden lightning flash
She was gone, like that.

Sunny days without
Alma, stay gloomy and hard
A struggle to live

Impossible thoughts
Six years buried, prayers read
Closets emptied, moved

I strived to forget
Refreshed my situation
Built a new future

Brilliant, again
The light, there she is – Alma
This long lost heartbeat

Rain speaks her patois
Curtains flutter, the door opens
Beckons me outside

Good sense would tell me
Secure the lock don’t go out
Ghosts are of the past

Louder cries thunder
Standing in midstorm, lightning
Oh let it reveal !

Before me stands Alma
She moves, her figure flowing
Forward, toward me

And now, comes to me
Alma, My Alma, again
I thought you were lost

Inbetween raindrops
Her figure dims transparent
Fading in detail

Remember these eyes
They say goodbye in a way
I’ll never forget

The rains stops, clouds break
A half moon peers through branches
The spread oak looms large

Then Alma was gone
Tree branches point out to me
A vaporous mist

Stormy nights, darkness
The mind plays tricks, doesn’t it?
but the heart knows rain.

~
Dark yields night to dawn
Storms will end, they move along
With all your monsters.

The rocker, Mother?
What a view from this window!
Oh, there’s the doorbell.

Wanton loneliness
Will end with the upcoming
Electrical storm.

What a gift! A doll
That perfectly looks like you
with a matching pin!

The King needs advice
a whole body dangle or
A head on a pike.

My portrait restored,
Years of attic dust and mold
Still, I look not well.

Please let the squirming
with uncontrolled writhing stop
I must take the stand.

In a starless night,
Calling out, who will hear this
Echolocation?

Mister Nuttel shook
As if he looked at a ghost
It was a squirrel.

What is with this child?
Tantrums over a few eyes
In her bowl of meat.

Serpent of this lake
Prefers the foggy mornings
to break the surface.

Oh Pandora, laugh
You will breathe freely again
With a brand new key.

Days turn into Weeks,
Weeks into months, counting years,
Leaves me here and now.

One reunion brings
Everyone together with
last rites memories.

Our golden tribute
Was not enough to make us safe
from smallpox or Spain.

Must I remind you!
Spilt liquids again? Clean up
After Mister Hyde.

After the long jam
A whole swathe of dancing fans
decapitated

My fourth wife enjoyed
Petit fours with almond glaze
Makes her so sleepy.

A regular tide
dependable as the moon,
to a buried man.

Tiny pincers open
Reach into a fleshy cave
Not an obstacle.

Throw the preserver
Arms reached for the buoy as
the rope’s knot untied.

Answer our prayers, Lord
Oh Mighty Creator, Here !
The Volcano roars.
